What to bring to your tax appointment

Use this list before your appointment at 95 Dorchester Ave, or before uploading for an online appointment. Bring what applies; skip what does not.

Not sure whether something counts? Bring it. A receipt we do not need costs you nothing. One we needed and did not have costs you the deduction.

Everyone

Government photo ID (first visit)
Last year's notice of assessment
Void cheque or direct deposit form
Your CRA My Account login if you have one (we can pull slips)

Income slips

T4 (employment), T4A (pension, self-employment, scholarships), T4E (EI)
T4A(P) and T4A(OAS) for CPP and Old Age Security
T5 (investment income), T3 (trust and mutual fund income), T5008 (securities sold)
T5007 (social assistance, workers compensation)
T4RSP and T4RIF withdrawal slips
Rental income and expense summary

Receipts and amounts

RRSP and FHSA contribution receipts
Medical expenses: prescriptions, dental, glasses, travel for medical care
Child care receipts with the provider's SIN or business number
Charitable donations
Tuition (T2202) and student loan interest
Union or professional dues
Moving expenses if you moved for work or school
Manitoba property tax bill or rent paid, with the landlord's name, for the Manitoba credits

Self-employed

Income records and expense receipts, or a bookkeeping summary
Vehicle log, home office square footage, equipment purchases
GST number if registered

Seniors

Pension and RRIF slips
Medical receipts, including travel
Home accessibility renovation receipts

What to bring: questions we get asked

I lost a slip. Can you still file?

Usually yes. With your authorization we can pull most T4, T5 and RRSP slips from your CRA account during the appointment.

Do you need originals?

No. Clear photos or scans are fine, and for online appointments they are the norm.

What about my spouse's slips?

Bring them. Filing together lets us place shared credits where they save the most.
